Just starting to see coverage come in following a very successful press event that we organised in Rijswijk in the Netherlands. Working on behalf of Emerson Process Management we brought 26 editors from the European industrial trade press to Rijswijk which is located in the Delft region in Holland.
The press event, which was to launch a new strategy alongside new products, was well received and generated many good quality questions.
Our role in organising this event was to coordinate everything to ensure it all came together on the day.
We worked with the client to understand their target customers and then used that information to prepare a list of editors whose magazines would reach those customers. We worked with the in-country team to organise the logistics. This included identifying the hotel, agreeing somewhere to hold the evening reception and organising the evening meal. We always try to give the editors a flavour of the area that they are visiting and this event was no exception.
The reception was at the Panorama Mesdag, a huge circular painting, 120M round and 14 M tall. The painting showed a scene of Scheveningen which is like a Dutch Southend. We then took the editors to Scheveningen for their meal.
The press event the next day went smoothly. These events always work well when you have a group of very competent speakers who are well rehearsed and fully understand the message. The questions that were asked were all highly relevant and of a good standard. The comments received from the editors over lunch were positive and they all seemed to understand the message well.
When all the logistics go smoothly the editors are able to concentrate on what they are being told and there is nothing to detract from that. That is what we aim to do each time, work away in the background creating the best ambiance for the event that we can so that the editors leave enthused about what they have heard and wanting to put pen to paper.
